It is a short story set in the future. Eckels, a hunter, pays $10000 to travel with time machine company called Time Safari. It takes hunters back in time when Dinosaurs and other presently extinct animals existed. In particular, it allows hunters to hunt the T-Rex. However, the company does not guarantee safety and you must follow the instructions. Doing the otherwise can lead to huge consequences and punishment, including the death penalty. On the trip, Eckels, out of curiosity and intimidation accidentally steps off the path, making the guides very skeptical about their future. Due to Eckels' behavior, Travis (a guide) and the other guides decide to postpone the safari. When Eckels stepped off the path, he stepped on a butterfly. This causes the entire FUTURE to be destroyed because of the error in the ecosystem. Out of anger, Travis eventually shoots Eckels.
