If Bill drives 45 MPH and Jim leaves 2 hours later and drives 75 MPH and they both maintain constant speed, how long will Jim travel before passing Bill?

  1. the key point is that when Jim passes Bill, at that moment they will have traveled the same distance.

    Distance covered by Bill = 45t
    Distance covered by Jim = 75(t-2)

    equate those two expressions and solve for t
