An enchanting illustration representing a physical scenario based on a mathematics problem. The image features clear calm water with the reflection of a blue sky, amidst this tranquility is a motorboat with a sleek design voyaging between two wooden piers with rustic charm. The motorboat isn't necessarily moving, but there are marks in the water denoting its potential trajectory both towards and away from each pier. Also, an annotation of '70km' with an arrow following the current indicates the distance covered by the boat. Note that there shouldn't be any numeric or textual elements.

A motorboat covers the distance from one pier to the other pier in 4 hours and the way back in 5 hours. What is the speed of the boat in still water, if it covers 70 km with the current in 3.5 hours?

lol i hate russian math

speed of boat in still water ---- x km/h

speed of current ------ y km/h

distance with the current = 4(x+y)
distance against the current = 5(x-y)

we know that 3.5(x+y) = 70
x+y = 20

but 4(x+y) = 4(20) = 80
then 5(x-y) = 80
x-y = 16

x+y=20
x-y=16
add them
2x = 36
x = 18 , then y = 2

state the conclusion

BAHAHA NOT EVERYONE HERE BC OF RSM-

lol rsm is kinda lowkey trash ngl

18

why is everyone that goes to rsm toxic except for like 3 kids, and two of those three are the class tryhards that no one likes

imagine paying attention in rsm-

rsm is so trash

Omg ahhh I suck at rsm it takes me a whole our to figure out half of a problem I’m so dumb so here I am searching up answers 😭

damn everyone here
