A scooter acquires a velocity of 30km/hr in 10 seconds just after the start.it takes 20 seconds to stop.calculate the acceleration in the two cases

  1. start: a = v/t = 30km/hr/10s = 3km/hr/s

    If you like, you can convert km/hr to m/s and your answer will be the usual m/s^2.

    since it takes twice as long to stop, the acceleration is half as much. And negative.

  2. In 1st case
    v=10m/s
    u=0m/s
    t=10sec

    equation= v=u+at
    10=0+a(10)
    10=a(10)
    a=10/10
    a=1m/s

    In 2nd case
    v=0m/s
    u=10m/s
    t=20sec

    equation will be same v=u+at
    0=10+a(20)
    -10=a(20)
    a=-10/20
    a=-0.5m/s
