Maria plans to fill the pots in her garden with soil and plant food. Maria has 8 1/4 quarts of soil and 1 1/2 quarts of plant

food.
Part A
Each pot requires 3/4 quart of soil. For how many pots does Maria have enough soil? Show your work.
Answer : 11pots
Part B
Each pot requires 1/3 quart of plant food. For how many pots does Maria have enough plant food? Show your work.
Answer: 4 1/2

I doubt my part c answer pls help

Part C
How many pots can Maria fill completely with the required amount of both soil and plant food? Explain your answer.

A and B are right.

She only has enough plant food for 4 pots.

i don't understand how you guys got 4 1/2 and 4 for part B

To find out how many pots Maria can fill completely with both soil and plant food, we need to determine the limiting factor between the two. The factor that limits the number of pots that can be filled is the one that Maria has less of - either soil or plant food.

In Part A, we found that each pot requires 3/4 quart of soil, and Maria has 8 1/4 quarts of soil. To calculate the number of pots she can fill with soil, we can divide the total amount of soil by the amount required for each pot:

Total soil / Soil per pot = 8 1/4 / 3/4 = (33/4) / (3/4) = 33/3 = 11

So, Maria has enough soil to fill 11 pots.

Similarly, in Part B, each pot requires 1/3 quart of plant food, and Maria has 1 1/2 quarts of plant food. To calculate the number of pots she can fill with plant food, we can divide the total amount of plant food by the amount required for each pot:

Total plant food / Plant food per pot = 1 1/2 / 1/3 = (3/2) / (1/3) = (3/2) * (3/1) = 9/2

To simplify this fraction, we can multiply the numerator and denominator by 2:

9/2 * 2/2 = 18/4

So, Maria has enough plant food to fill 4 1/2 pots.

In Part C, we need to consider the limiting factor between the two - soil or plant food. Since Maria has enough soil to fill 11 pots, but only enough plant food to fill 4 1/2 pots, the limiting factor is the plant food. Therefore, Maria can fill completely with the required amount of both soil and plant food is 4 pots.

This means that Maria can fill 4 pots completely with the required amount of both soil and plant food.

Part A: 8 1/4 divided by 3/4 8 1/4= 33/4

33/4 x 4/3 KCF: Keep Change Flip
11 pots

Part B: 1 1/2 divided by 1/3 1 1/2= 3/2
3/2 x 3/1
4 1/2

Part C: Maria will only fill 15 pots completely because 11+ 4= 15 and you don't use the 1/2 of the pot you need in part B because it is not being filled in completely.

i respectly disagree with the answer of part a it supposed to be 12 because if you divide any of the the numbers 8 1/4 and 3/4 in any order you will get 12
