I don't understand how to solve this problem. If you could tell me how to do it that would be great!!

48 is 30% of what number?

14.4
18
62.5
160

Make a ratio and solve for x:

48/x = 30/100

remember % means 'per 100'

% means 1 / 100

48 % of 30 = ?

48 % = 48 / 100

48 % of 30 = [48 / 100] * 30

= [48*30] / 100

= 1440 / 100
]
= 14.40

thus 48% of 30 = 14.40

So D

Oh ok Thanks and also I normally do use proportions but this time i cannot use proportions...

I meant A

A is incorrect. Read the problem carefully. It's not asking for 30% of 48!

??? im confused whos answer is right??? using proportions it is d but you say a????

A is incorrect.

What is corrrect A or D? I used proportions this time and it says d...

Don't see how it's not A

D is correct.

0.3x = 48

Oh OK sweet thanks!

"48 is 30% of what number?"

48/x = 30/100

48/x = 3/10

3x = 480

x = what?

x=160 because you divide by 3 on both sides

30%=48 so 100% =more. Therefore it will be 100%/30%*48. So the answer is 160
