Hello. My algebra teacher gave me this worksheet last week and everyone had to bring it yesterday and I haven't done it yet. Can someone please help me. He said Friday is the last day or he's going to take away some points. I've been having trouble with all these math problems. I feel like the class is moving to fast and i'm just there. My mom does try to help me but she always yells and gets mad at me when i don't understand so I just decided its better of to just study alone. I'm going to start with my new tutor next week and i'm going to write these questions and let her explain to me but for right now I really need these answers. Please please don't say i'm lasy becuase i'm really not i'm just a bit slow when it comes to math. Thanks to who ever answers in advance.

1.Determine whether the equation represents a direct variation. If it does, find the constand of variation. 2y= 5x + 1

Not a direct variation
Direct variation, constant of variation is 5/2
Direct variation, constant variation is 2/5
Direct variation, constand of variation is 1-2/5

2. Determine whether the equation represents a direct variation. If it does, find the constant of variation.
-12x=6y

Not a direct variation
Direct variation, constant of variation is 1/2
Direct variation, constant variation is 2
Direct variation, constand of variation is -2

3. Determine whether the equation represents a direct variation. If it does, find the constant of variation.

0.7x-1.4y=0

Not a direct variation
Direct variation, constant of variation is 1/2
Direct variation, constant variation is 2
Direct variation, constand of variation is -2

4. Suppose y varies directly with x. Write a direct variation equation that relates x and y.
y= -10 when x=2

y= -5x
y= -1/5x
y=5x
y=1/5x

5.Suppose y varies directly with x. Write a direct variation equation that relates x and y.

y=10.4 when x =4

y= 3.4x
y=3.8x
y=3.2x
y=2.6x

6. Suppose y varies directly with x. Write a direct variation equation that relates x and y.
y= 7 1/2 when x =3

y= 3/2x
y= 2/3x
y=5/2x
y=2/5x

7. graph the direct variation equation.
y= 1/3x

8.graph the direct variation equation.
y= -1/2x

9. For the data in the table, tell whether y varies directly with x. if it does, write an equation for the first direct variation.
x y
3 5.4
7 12.6
12 21.6

Not a direct variation
Direct variation, y= 1.8x
Direct variation, y= 4x
Direct variation, y= 5/9x

10.For the data in the table, tell whether y varies directly with x. if it does, write an equation for the first direct variation.

x y
-2 1
3 6
8 11

well the answers are

1 A
2 D
3 c
4 A
5 C

8 C
9 B
10 A
thank you @Reiny

The whole assignment seems to deal only with one simple concept, a direct variation

Sometimes text or your notes have definitions that are difficult to understand.
Here is the definition that is easy to understand:
A direct variation gives you an equation that contains no constants, and there are no exponents on the two variables.

e.g. y = 8x is a direct variation,
but y = 8x + 4 is NOT, since I see a constant of 4

a direct variation can be written in the form
y = kx , where k is the constant of variation

#1, not a variation, I see a +1 sitting there as a constant
#2, yes it is a direct variation:
-12x = 6y
6y = -12x
y = -2x
so the constant of variation is -2 , if y varies directly with x
or
-12x = 6y
x = -(1/2)x
now the constant of variation is -1/2 , if x varies directly as y
so it depends how you express the equation, either in terms of x or in terms of y

#3,
.7x - 1.4y = 0
.7x = 1.4y
1.4y = .7x
y = (.7/1.4)x = (1/2)x
so , yes it is, and the constant of variation is 1/2

From #4 on, you have to first find the equation.
I will do #4, you try the remaining.

#4, they tell us it is a direct variation, so it must look like
y = kx
They give us x=2 when y = -10
let's plug in those values:
-10 = k(2)
2k = -10
k = -5
aaahhhh, so y = -5x is our equation

#6, same way, just some fractions to deal with

#7, to graph, pick any x, and find the y to get ordered pairs,
e.g. let x = 3, then y = (1/3)(3) = 1, --> point(3,1)
let x = 9, then y = (1/3)(9) = 3 ---> point (9,3)
plot those two points, and join with a straight line

Notice how I picked multiple of 3's for my x's so I could take 1/3 of the x without ending up with fractions?

#8 , same as #7, pick multiples of 2 for your x's

#9 and #10 are the same type
#9
assume it is a direct variation, then its equation must be
y = kx
use the first given data: x = 3, y = 5.4
then 5.4 = k(3)
3k = 4.5
k = 1.5
equation is y = 1.5x
do the other points satisfy our equation?
for (7, 12.6)
is 12.6 = 1.5(7) ?
12.6 = 10.5 ??? NO, so the given data is NOT a direct variation

#10 same way

Hey writeteacher, wtf do you think this website is for? Everyone that comes on here to help WILL give people the answers. That’s the whole point of the app, if you don’t like it leave if your not here to help or get answers, your useless here.

I meant to say what*

This is the most dislikes I've seen on a teacher's comment.

Variation

Could you please specify what you want to know about variation?

idk just Variation

In mathematics, variation refers to the change in the value of a mathematical function or variable. It usually indicates how a quantity changes with respect to another quantity. There are different types of variations, such as direct variation, inverse variation, and joint variation.

Direct variation is a relationship between two variables, where one variable is always a constant multiple of the other. This relationship can be expressed as y = kx, where x and y are the variables, and k is the constant of variation.

Inverse variation is another type of relationship between two variables, where the product of the two variables is a constant. This relationship can be expressed as y = k/x, where x and y are the variables, and k is the constant of variation.

Joint variation refers to the relationship between three or more variables, where their product is a constant value. The joint variation formula can be expressed as y = kxyz, where x, y, and z are the variables, and k is the constant of variation.

Understanding these types of variations is important in various fields, such as science, economics, and engineering.

science Variation

In science, variation is the differences that exist between individuals or groups of organisms or objects. It can refer to genetic variation, or the differences in genes and traits passed down from parents to offspring, as well as environmental variation, or the differences caused by environmental factors that affect the development, growth, and survival of organisms.

Genetic variation is the basis for natural selection and evolution, as it provides the raw material for traits that may be favored by environmental conditions. This variation arises from mutations, sexual recombination, and gene flow between populations.

Environmental variation, on the other hand, is the result of differences in physical and biological conditions that affect organisms or objects. These conditions can include factors such as temperature, light, food availability, and pollution. Environmental variation can have significant effects on the health, behavior, and evolution of individuals and populations.

Understanding variation is essential in many areas of science, including genetics, ecology, and epidemiology, in order to understand the diversity of living organisms and the factors that affect their survival and evolution.

what is the answer The amount of food, space, and predators are examples of _____________________ that limit the number of individuals that the environment can support.

The amount of food, space, and predators are examples of _____________________ that limit the number of individuals that the environment can support.

idk who will see this but it is important they changed it so its now

for the start of it

tbh your are correct on all but one 5 is not C

5 is b

No one here will do your whole worksheet for you, but my suggestion to you is the same I give my granddaughter: Go talk to your teacher, and set up a tutoring time with him.

After you meet with your new tutor next week, you may or may not need to do this again, but you need help now! Talk to your teacher!!
