here's the question i have to answer about political activists.

What affect do they have, and how are their efforts measured?

so in my answer i still use affect and not effect, right?

I think a lot of the time their affect is to create a strong reaction either positive or negative about the issuse at hand.

I don't know, it may be a dumb question but I figured better ask and be sure then dont' and be wrong.

In both sentences the correct word is effect.

Check the definition, especially the usage note near the bottom that discusses affect and effect.

You know, I had the feeling that is what looked so wrong to me in the first place. But, since the questions came from a professor I just assumed they were right. Just goes to show even a teacher can get it wrong. :)

Thanks for the help!

Yep. :-)

It's not a dumb question...

Use "effect" in this case.

It is a very common mistake. It is also very easy to miss when proof reading as a) you read what you expect to see and b) an a can look like an e in some type faces.

please could you tell me the answer to this:whats the effect on weedkillers on the ecosystem?

Your question is not dumb at all! It is always better to ask and be sure. Now, let's break down the question and work on your answer.

The question asks about the impact of political activists and how their efforts are measured. To answer this question, you should start by understanding the difference between "affect" and "effect." In this case, "affect" is the correct word to use because it refers to the influence or impact that political activists have.

Now, let's construct your answer:

Political activists can have a significant affect on society and politics. Their efforts often aim to bring attention to specific issues or causes, mobilize support or opposition, and stimulate conversations and debates on important topics. By organizing protests, campaigns, or awareness-raising events, activists expose societal problems, advocate for change, and exert pressure on policymakers.

Measuring the impact of political activists can be a complex task. One way to assess their efforts is by analyzing the extent to which they achieve their goals. This might include legislative changes, policy reforms, or shifts in public opinion. Additionally, measuring the level of engagement and participation they generate within the community can be indicative of their influence.

Evaluated metrics can include the number of supporters, media coverage, social media engagement, donations, or survey data. However, it is important to consider that the impact of political activists extends beyond immediate outcomes, as it can also shape the overall discourse, inspire future generations, and contribute to long-term structural changes.

In summary, political activists have a considerable affect on society through their actions and advocacy. The measurement of their efforts involves assessing the attainment of goals, assessing levels of engagement, and considering broader implications and long-term effects.

Remember, it's always good to double-check your answer before submitting it, and don't hesitate to seek feedback or clarification if needed!
