Poets use imagery and words with different connotations and denotations. In a paragraph, define and provide an example of imagery, connotation, and denotation. Then, explain how poets use these elements to contribute to tone in a poem. Support your answer with evidence from “President Lincoln’s Declaration of Emancipation, January 1, 1863.”

Light shining on something has nothing to with gold leaf or gold plate, but it Makes it shine LIKE gold. The connotation differs from the denotation because it contributes to a warm hopeful tone. The use of imagery is basically the author using very descriptive words to emphasize their work.(Third stanza 9-10) "It shall flood with golden splendor/ All the huts of Coraline..." is imagery because it describes the scene in vivid detail. The phrase "golden splendor" rouses am excited tone.

Theses are my answers. The multi choice ones should be correct as of March 3 2020 unless my answers aren't on your test.

The written response is what i put in on my test, so therefore i am not responsible if you have a very strict teacher that only gives you 2 points cuz she wanted you to "elaborate more". This answer has answered hopefully all parts of the test. If you wanted to, you can expand further on my answer

I'll give one example to get you started. To gild something is to coat it with gold. Light shining on something has nothing to do with gold leaf or gold plate, but makes it shine LIKE gold. The connotation differs from the denotation.

Imagery displays the sensual language of what is trying to be addressed.

The synonym for sensory language is “imagery”, also can be attributed as the descriptive details of an object. These sensory language is a one technique that writers and artists uses to relate with readers with the use of an image, description, movement or scenario. It utilizes the five sensory organs –eyes, nose, ears, touch and taste. For example, his white snowy skin is so bright.

Guys anon is correct if your on Unit 2, Lesson 19: Voices in Verse Unit Test! 19/19 -100% :D I did the test on 3/20/2020! And the essay part is really easy just make sure to actually read the poem to understand it. If you don’t understand just search the words imagery, connotation, and de notation for examples. Then read the poem to find descriptive ideas of those words;)

I don't know enough about poetry to help but other tutors do. Other tutors will want to know how we can help you with this assignment.

I think I know the poem, but am not sure. I can't find it under that title. It could be some other poem. Check your assigned reading, Linda! The one I'm thinking of is untitled, but there are many poems about the Emancipation Proclamation.

TRUST ME!!!

Have you read the poem, Linda? It is one image after another, with many words that provide metaphors, the connotation differing from the word's denotation, but serving to enhance the tone of the poem. Start with thinking about what the tone of the poem is, then look for the literary devices that enhance that tone.

DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK!This is CHEATING.
