For help in the future for people, I don't think that the second one is land like Hell claims, in the lesson it explicitly states that water became a problem because it was un-renewable. (they used it to water crops, drink, cook, and bathe with for ex.)

For the question about why New England was a good starting place for American textile manufacturing, the correct answer is C) Rocky soil made the area inadequate for farming. This meant that agriculture was not as profitable in the region, so many people turned to manufacturing instead.

Regarding the question about the important issue in Florida in the 1800s due to an increase in settlers, the correct answer is d) Water. As more settlers arrived in Florida, there was a greater demand for water resources for drinking, irrigation, and other needs.

To determine the correct answer for the first question, we need to analyze each option.

A) There were no ports within easy access: This option suggests that the absence of ports was a reason for New England being a good starting place for American textile manufacturing. However, having easy access to ports would actually facilitate shipping of manufactured goods, so this option is unlikely to be the correct answer.

B) It was the birthplace of Frances Cabot Lowell: This option refers to Frances Cabot Lowell, a key figure in the early development of the American textile industry. While his birthplace might be significant historically, it is not a direct reason for New England being a good starting place for textile manufacturing.

C) Rocky soil made the area inadequate for farming: This option suggests that the unsuitability of the soil for agriculture in New England made it a good location for textile manufacturing. Textile manufacturing does not directly rely on fertile soil, so this option is not likely to be the correct answer.

D) Most manufacturing products were being shipped overseas: This option proposes that since most manufacturing products were being exported, making textiles in New England was a suitable choice. This option seems plausible, as being close to ports for exporting goods would be advantageous for an industry that heavily relies on trade.

Based on the analysis, option D seems to provide the most logical explanation for why New England was a good starting place for American textile manufacturing.

Now, let's move on to the second question.

To determine the correct answer, we need to consider what resource became an important issue in Florida in the 1800s due to an increase in settlers.

a) Citrus fruit: This option suggests that citrus fruit became an important issue in Florida due to an increase in settlers. While citrus fruit may have been important for the agricultural industry in Florida, it is unclear how it relates to an increase in settlers. Hence, this option is unlikely to be the correct answer.

b) Labor: This option proposes that an increase in settlers led to the importance of labor as a resource in Florida in the 1800s. As the population grows, the demand for labor typically increases, making this option a plausible answer.

c) Land: This option suggests that an increase in settlers made land an important resource in Florida. As more people move into an area, the demand for available land for housing, agriculture, and other purposes increases. So, this option sounds reasonable and could be the correct answer.

d) Water: This option proposes that an increase in settlers made water an important resource in Florida. While water is always essential, particularly in areas with a growing population, it may not be directly linked to an increase in settlers. So, this option seems less likely to be the correct answer.

Based on the analysis, option c, land, appears to be the most reasonable answer for the second question.

Hi Anonymous,

The answer to the first question is B) because New England was Lowell's home territory and he had travelled to Scotland to copy cotton mill designs.
The answer to the second is C). It is land because in those days when the settlers came, they all landed near one area and forgot the land which is now known as New York and Massachusetts and other states nearby. That's why there was a shortage in land.
