1. a ^ m * a ^ n = a ^ ( m + n )

3 ^ 4 * 3 ^ ( - 2 ) = 3 ^ [ 4 + ( - 2 ) ] = 3 ^ ( 4 - 2 ) = 3 ^ 2 = 9

OR

3 ^ 4 = 81

3 ^ ( - 2 ) = 1 / 3 ^ 2 = 1 / 9

3 ^ 4 * 3 ^ ( - 2 ) = 81 * 1 / 9 = 81 / 9 = 9
