1. Which of the following policies represents current American foreign policy?
d. international cooperation***
2. When President Obama chose multilateral engagement as a foreign policy, which past policy was he essentially returning to?
a. collective security
b. the Monroe Doctrine***?
2. I think the answer is either the Monroe Doctrine or isolationism, but I am not sure because my book is very unclear about this topic.
Thank you Writeacher. Does this mean I am completely wrong with both questions?
No. The search results were to help you with 2.
I think you're right for 1, but be sure to wait for Ms. Sue or Damon or someone to double-check.
Okay thank you! In the meantime, I will look through the search results and determine my answer for number two:)
I agree with Writeacher
Number 2 is NOT B or C
Engagement is not telling the other guy to take a long walk off a short pier.
1. is correct, so far, I hope.
Thank you Damon! I have done some research and its helped a little, but I am still confused with number 2. If it is not B or C, could it be A. collective security?
Yes, I agree. If you look up each of those words -- either individually or as two-word terms if needed -- you should see that "multilateral" is similar to "collective" in this context -- that is, that many (multi-) countries (-lateral or sides) work together (collective), not in isolation.
Thank you again Writeacher!
