I have 5 problems.

Write a mathematical expression to represent each situation. Then find the value of the expression to solve the problem.

1. You play a game where you score -6 points on the first turn and on each of the next 3 turns. What is your score after those 4 turns?

For #1 I got -6(4) as the expression and -24 points after those 4 turns. Am I correct?

2. The outdoor temperature declines 3 degrees each hour for 5 hours. What is the change in temperature at the end of those 5 hours?

For #2 I got -3(5) as the expression and -15 is the change in temperature at the end of those 5 hours. Correct or no ?

3. You have $200 in a savings account. Each week of 8 weeks, you take out $18 for spending money. How much money is in your account at the end of 8 weeks?

For #3 I got $200-(18*8) as the expression and at the end of 8 weeks I have $56 in my account. Am I correct?

4. The outdoor temperature was 8 degrees at midnight. The temperature declined 5 degrees during each of the next 3 hours. What was the temperature at 3 A.M. ?

For #4 I got 8-(5 * 3) as the expression and the temperature at 3 A.M. was -7 degrees. Am I correct?

5. The price of a stock was $325 a share. The price of the stock went down $25 each week for 6 weeks. What was the price of that stock at the end of 6 weeks?

For #5 I got $325 - (25 * 6) and at the end of 6 weeks the price of the stock was $175.

Thanks!~

For #1 I got -6(4) as the expression and -24 points after those 4 turns. Am I correct? YES. A very stupid game.

CORRECT
Thanks!~

Looking good.

Nice work.

Thanks this helped me explain my answers were all wrong lol!

For problem #1, you're correct. The expression -6(4) represents scoring -6 points on each of the 4 turns, resulting in a total of -24 points after those 4 turns.

For problem #2, you're also correct. The expression -3(5) represents the decline of 3 degrees per hour for the 5 hours, resulting in a change in temperature of -15 degrees at the end of those 5 hours.

For problem #3, your expression is correct, but the calculation is not. The expression $200-(18*8) represents subtracting $18 taken out each week for 8 weeks from the initial $200. However, calculating it, $200 - (18 * 8) results in $56. Therefore, you have $56 in your account at the end of 8 weeks.

For problem #4, you're correct again. The expression 8-(5*3) represents the initial temperature of 8 degrees minus the decline of 5 degrees each hour for 3 hours. The calculation yields a temperature of -7 degrees at 3 A.M.

For problem #5, you have the correct expression. $325 - (25 * 6) represents the initial price of $325 minus the decrease of $25 each week for the 6 weeks. The calculation correctly results in a price of $175 at the end of 6 weeks.

Overall, you did a great job with these problems!

Haha thanks you guys!
