Let y= 3x2. Find the value of y (in parts (a)(d)) for each of the following values of x:
a: 1
b: 100
c: 2
d: a in terms of a
e: For which values of x will y be 11?

Steve
to find y(x) for a specific x, just replace each x with its value.
(a) y(1) = 3(1)2 = 32 = 1
and so on
(d) a = 1(a)
(e) just solve for x in
3x2 = 11
