What are some flaws that people had against equal rights?
In the 1960s, I overheard a store owner in a midsize northern city complain to a friend. She said that if she had to hire a black in her store that she'd lose a lot of customers. I'm sure she believed that too!
Some white people thought that their children would receive an inferior education if there were black children in their school.
