How many cartons measuring 3 feet by 2 feet by 6 inches can be stored in a space that is 15 feet by 9 feet by 24 feet. Assume no space is wasted. Explain your answer.

since the boxes may be oriented so that each dimension of the space is divisible by a dimension of the boxes, we can just divide the volumes:
15*9*24 / 3*2*.5 = 1080
