Ms. Sue
1. let's simplify the first fraction.
5 6/9 = 5 2/3
2. change to equivalent fractions with a common denominator.
5 2/3 = 5 10/15
2 2/5 = 2 6/15
3. Add the whole numbers and add the numerators.
5 10/15 + 2 6/15 = 7 16/15
4. Simplify the answer.
7 16/15 = 8 1/15
