In History, we are reading the book _My Brother Sam is Dead_ and one of the questions asked: What did Sam's being home reveal about discipline among the Rebel troops?

Please help me understand what the question means, thanks!

    What is the contrast between being home and being on the battlefield? Was discipline greater one place or the other?
