Representative democracy- legislators elected by the people in free and open elections debate and vote on public issues to determine the laws

Aristocracy- a small privileged class usually a hereditary nobility has the power to govern

Constitutional monarchy- a constitution recognizes the inherited ceremonal power of a royal family but a representative assembly determines the laws

Dictatorship- an individual holds absolute power, and determines the laws as well as economic and social policy
