Not exactly. You COULD use H2SO4 but it would be better to use a more neutral salt like Na2SO4 or K2SO4 to provide the SO4^-2. PbSO4 is slightly more soluble in acid solution; therefore, we usually see that the solution is only SLIGHTLY acidic.
