4m+9+5m-12= 42

my question is how to get m=5 (the answer) can u show me the steps to do this problem right please because i keep getting 6 ?

  • math -

    4m+5m=9m
    and
    9-12 = -3
    so what we have is
    9 m - 3 = 42
    add 3 to both sides
    9 m = 45
    divide both sides by 9
    m = 5

    thank you !
