calculated area of a room is 174.2 square feet and the actual area is 149.6
the question was 'What is the relative error of the area to the nearest tenthousand?'
Im confused about what is relative error and how can i get that?

relative error = (observedtrue)/true * 100 that is in percent.
Don't multiply by 100 if you want the decimal fraction. The way your question is worded, it doesn't want want percent...which is unusual, nearly always one uses percent in relative error.
