how many ways are there to chose 6 people out of 14 to be on a committee?
what is the equation your supposed to use

have you learned the C(n,r) notation ?
your problem simply becomes C(14,6)
(I read that as "choose 6 from 14)
its value = 14!/(6!8!)
= 3003
look for this function on your calculator, it usually looks like this

to get the answer follow these steps
enter 14
press 2ndF, then the above key
enter 6
press =
you should get 3003
