what are three population characteristics that tell us whether a country’s population is changing?

Death rate, immigration/emigration rates, and birth rate

thanks! i got another one...

When people have a better quality of life, they tend to have fewer children because... help!

One reason is that many children die in infancy or early childhood in the undeveloped world. Families tend to have many children to assure that a few children survive to care for the parents in their old age. It's also been shown that when women are literate, they're able to have higher hopes for themselves and their families and realize that too many children adds to the families' impoverishment.

alrighty, thank you ms sue you rock!

You're welcome.

Three population characteristics that can help us understand whether a country's population is changing are:

1. Birth Rate: The birth rate refers to the number of births per thousand people in a given population over a specific period of time. If the birth rate is high, it indicates that the population is growing, while a low birth rate suggests that the population is either stabilizing or declining. The birth rate can be obtained by dividing the number of births in a year by the total population and multiplying it by 1,000.

Formula: Birth Rate = (Number of Births / Total Population) x 1,000.

2. Death Rate: The death rate represents the number of deaths per thousand people in a population over a specific period of time. Similar to the birth rate, a high death rate may indicate a shrinking population, while a low death rate suggests population growth or stability. The death rate is calculated by dividing the number of deaths in a year by the total population and multiplying it by 1,000.

Formula: Death Rate = (Number of Deaths / Total Population) x 1,000.

3. Net Migration: Net migration refers to the difference between the number of people immigrating to a country and the number of people emigrating from it over a certain period of time, typically a year. Positive net migration implies that more people are moving into the country, contributing to population growth, while negative net migration results in population decline.

Formula: Net Migration = (Number of Immigrants - Number of Emigrants).

By analyzing the birth rate, death rate, and net migration, we can gain insights into how a country's population is changing.
