Please explain this problem:
one fifth of 40

  • Prealgebra -

    so 1/5 of 40 is just 1/5 times 40 which equals 8.

  • Prealgebra -

    1/5 * 40/1

    Multiply the numerators and the denominators.

    1/5 * 40/1 = 40/5 = 8
