how would i solve this?

2x+2y=12

would i solve for x or y? Im stuck!!

    2x +2y =12
    2x+2y-2y=12
    2x/2=12/2
    x=6



    2x+2y=12
    2x-2x+2y=12
    2y/2=12/2
    y=6
