  6. Renewable resources may be defined as resources that have the potential to be replaced over time by natural processes. The renewal process may be relatively quick, as with sunshine which comes on a daily basis. Or, the renewal process may be very slow, as in the formation of soil which may take hundreds of years. Sunlight, wind, water, geothermal, and plants are all examples of renewable energy sources. Nonrenewable resources may be defined as resources whose stock or reserves is limited or fixed. Think of it this way, nonrenewable resources are energy sources that come out of the ground as liquids, gases, and solids. Oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium are all examples of non-renewable energy sources. The more fossil fuels we burn it negatively effects everything. Fossil fuels are a major source of pollution and their production and transformation have a significantly negative impact on human health and the environment. It causes carbon dioxide that is the main cause for global warming. Therefore, some animals can't take the rapid climate change so they would die, and the amount of biodiversity decreases. If you used renewable resources like the sun, it might be costly, but it does not affect the biodiversity as much. Also, the available supply of nonrenewable resources may be replenished through recycling (e.g. recycling aluminum cans), but the overall supply remains relatively constant.
