  1. Any function? The simplest way to do this would be to assume a cubic function with roots -1, -5, and 3. This would mean it would be factorable into:
(x+1)(x+5)(x-3). Simply multiply these three functions together and there's an answer.

  2. y = (x-1)(x-2)(x-3)(x+3)
    = (x-1)(x-2)(x^2 - 9)
    =(x^2 -3x+2)(x^2-9)
    = x^4 - 3x^3 - 7x^2 + 27x - 18
