  1. I'm not completely sure but based on the bio knowledge that I have, I have to say this allows for diversification of the genes of the plant since it would be less likely for it to pollinate itself. This would lead to inbreeding of the plant. If another plant had it's pistils/ stamens mature at the same time as the other plant's stamens/pistils then it could pollinate the other plant and this would create divesity.
