What is dirt and ocean

Always look on a educational science site if you need help. When individuals answer on posts they may not be correct.

Biotic factor- if it is alive or was ever alive

example: a living tree, a dead tree, a branch, a piece of wood, a piece of lumber, an animal, a plant, a mushroom, fungus, mold, etc.

abiotic factor - non-living and never lived

example: water, minerals, metals, plastic, sunlight, temperature, wind

How can something be both biotic and abiotic? If it is made up of both biotic and abiotic materials

for example: A pencil is biotic and abiotic because the wood of a pencil was from a tree at one point, and the graphite in the middle of a pencil your write with is abiotic.

another example: the ocean is both because water is abiotic but the water of an ocean has living things in it like plants (a little pieces of dead plants) and fish like sharks and mammals like dolphins and other living microorganisms in it you cannot see without a microscope.Other abiotic things in ocean water are sand, bits of rock etc.

another example: if you dug up a little soil in your backyard it would have some dead plant material in it, parts of dead bugs, maybe a living worm and other organisms that are living that you may not see. In this way soil is both abiotic and biotic. Pure soil would be abiotic but otherwise soil you may be considering could have living things or little pieces of things that were once living mixed in.

finger nails biotic

pipe abiotic
cotton fabric both
wool both
gold abiotic

Is grapes abiotic or biotic

What is a metal ruler

nub

Ok. Paper is from trees, and it biotic.

Clocks are and can be either.
I have no clue how something can be both

Grapes are biotic

paper is both biotic and abiotic

clock is both because its made out of wood but goes through a abiotic process to become a

clock

Is wool a biotic or abiotic

Is bread biotic or abiotic?

all of u r wrong

Salad=biotic

is an american girl biotic

i think its a yes because the girl is example of biotic factor..... Biotic - is any living component that affects the population....

An American girl is a human being and humans are biotic. Biotic means living or once living.

Biotic/living beings grow, reproduce, respond to stimuli, are made of cells, contain DNA, and require energy.

Females and males alike have these qualities and when they die they are still considered biotic since they were once living.

Jayce, I know that this is late, but plastic is not both biotic and abiotic. Plastic is abiotic given the fact that it doesn't have any of the (biotic) qualities that are listed above. Also, grapes are biotic because they grow and are made of cells. Furthermore, cotton is considered biotic since it grows.

Smart person to the rescue, when it comes to a clock, it depends. Some clocks are made of plastic. I would say that overall clocks are abiotic as are rocks too. Rocks don't grow, require energy, or have cells to "survive" because they are nonliving to begin with.

Ms. Sue, it depends on what is in the salad. A classic salad in my mind has lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Even if the salad had meat in it, like a chicken caesar salad, then it would still be biotic. Meat literally comes from animals. These are all biotic factors meaning that the salad is biotic. If you were to use salt to give it flavor then that is where an abiotic factor comes into the picture since salt is a mineral.

is a rock biotic or abiotic?
