You buy clothing at a sale. You buy sneakers at 2/3 of their original price of $60, a sweater at 7/10 of its original price of $35, and a jacket at 5/6 of its original price of $45. Answer each question and show all your work.
a. How much money did you spend?
b. How much money did you save?
c. What fraction of the total original price did you save?
Help on figureing this out?
You buy sneakers at 2/3 of their original prioce of $60 = $40
A sweater at 7/10 of its oreginal price of $35 = 24.5
And a jacket at 5/6 of its oreginal price of $45 = $37.5
So you spent $ 102
Saved (origianl cost - buying cost) ( 60+35+45) - (102) = $38
The fraction is 38/140 simplify to 19/70
IS this all right?
2/3 * 60 = 120/3 = $40 for the sneakers. You saved $20.
Do the same for the other two purchases.
I'll be glad to check your answers.

how did you get 140 for the denominator of 38/140?
Lol I am only here to find the answers.
my broski's that is the real way.
@Whostolemytoast i saw you in a diffrent problem lol
@Person Important I saw him in the last problem
Same with the lenny face
So it is 38/140. Not 68/140.
Is this the correct answer?
..( ̄o ̄) . z Z Hugh oh yea thanks for da help on my planet
38 is the correct answer, as you are supposed to add the original cost to the reduced cost. So it would be 140 - 102, which equals 38.

Ayo wait where did crippled kid get the 72 what else is he adding? Isn't 24.5+37.5=62?
GUYS PLEASE STOP TALKING ON THIS PROBLEM.... ITS BEEN ANSWERED AND THE PERSON WHO ASKED THE QUESTION ASKED IT 8 YEARS AGO.....WTF GO OUTSIDE AND TOUCH GRASS....
Thanks crippled kid, sorry if you are really crippled
take the $60 and multiply it by the fraction given 2/3 and you get 2*60=120, 120/3=$40
You do the same for all the others and add them up to answer a.
35*7/10=$24.5, 45*5/6=$37.5 Total=$72
Then add up the prices without multiplying by the fractions given. Then subtract what you got for part a from it.
60+35+45=$140-$72=$68
What fraction of the total did ........68/140
