Answer the questions below for an element that has the electron configuration 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s1.
A. What is the symbol for this element?
B. What is the atomic number of this element?
C. How many unpaired electrons does an atom of this elelemt have?
D. How many valence electrons does an atom of this elelemt have?
E. How many inner shell electrons does an atom of this element have?
F. What is the highest occupied energy level for this element?

Im not sure if its Chromium or Potassium and how would I figure out C-F?

  1. That looks like 19 electrons to me (count them up) which means for the neutral element it must have 19 protons so look on the periodic table for element number 19. By the way, you KNOW it can't be Cr. Why? Cr is in the 3d transition series so it must have 3d electrons and this element doesn't have any 3d electrons.
