    127/12 - 514/15 = (635 - 2056)/60
    = -1421/60

    Did you mean to write 1 27/12, 12 7/12, or 127/12? I assumed the latter. In any case, convert to a common denomimator. The answers will be different. For example:

    12 7/12 - 5 14/15 = 12 35/60 - 5 56/60
    = 11 95/60 - 5 56/60 = 6 39/60 = 5 13/20

  2. thank you but i don't understand how you get 11 95/60 and 6 39/60 to get 5 13/20

  3. My last step had a typing error and should be 6 13/20.

    I changed 12 35/60 to 11 95/60 so I could subtract the fractions and integers separately without getting a negative fraction
