If 2 grams of acetic acid is reacted with excess 1-pentanol, what mass of pentyl acetate would you expect to achieve theoretically?
1 answer
2 g acetic acid is 2/60 = ? mols acetic acid. That will produce the same number of mols pentyl acetate as the theoretical yield. grams = mols x molar mass if you want it in grams.
