Please help me to find out the missing y Numbers. I cannot figure out the pattern.
x Y
1 9
2 8
3 7
4
8
10
12 -2
15
20
The x column increases by 1 and the Y column decreases by 1.
4 - 6
5 - 5
I'm sure you can take it from there.
as the x increases by 1, the y appears to decrease by 1
y = -x + 10
for x=4 , y = -4+10 = 6 , yup, that fits the pattern
for x =8, y = -8+10 = 2
etc.
(notice x=12, y=-2 fits my pattern)
Based on what you said this is what I came up with. Did I do the rest of the pattern correctly?
Thank you so much for your help.
X y
1 9
2 8
3 7
4 6
8 2
10 0
12 -2
15 -5
20 -10
12 7
To find the missing y numbers, let's analyze the given numbers to identify the underlying pattern:
x Y
1 9
2 8
3 7
4
8
10
12 -2
15
20
Looking at the given x values, we can see that they are not in a specific pattern. However, the y values do seem to follow a pattern.
From x = 1 to x = 3, the y values decrease by 1 each time. This pattern suggests that for each increase of x by 1, the corresponding y value decreases by 1.
Now, let's check the missing x values to determine the corresponding y values.
For x = 4, we can assume that the y value will decrease by 1 from y = 7. Therefore, the y value for x = 4 will be 6.
For x = 8, we can apply the same pattern of a decrease of 1 from the previous y value. Since the previous y value is 6, the y value for x = 8 will be 5.
For x = 10, following the pattern, we decrease the y value by 1 from the previous value (5). So, the y value for x = 10 will be 4.
For x = 15, we again decrease the y value by 1 from the preceding value (4). Thus, the y value for x = 15 will be 3.
Finally, for x = 20, applying the same pattern, the y value will decrease by 1 from the previous value (3). So, the y value for x = 20 will be 2.
Therefore, the missing y numbers are:
x Y
1 9
2 8
3 7
4 6
8 5
10 4
12 -2
15 3
20 2
