Reduce the equation to the standard form:
y=(3/2)x 2
The constant term 2 is the yintercept.posted by MathMate

A xintercept is a point on the graph where y is zero.
4 x  6 y = 12
for y = 0
4 x  0 = 12
4 x = 12 Divide both sides with 4
x = 3
xintercept = 3posted by Bosnian

Oops, the question requires the xintercept, which is in fact the root of the equation, so solve the equation by putting y=0 to get
(2/3)x=2, or x=3.
So the xintercept is 3.
Also, the yintercept can also be obtained by putting x=0 in the equation to get y=12/(6)=2.posted by MathMate
