how do you solve these using polynomial equations???

the altitude of a triangle is 5m less than half its base. if the area of the triangle is 300m, find the measure of the base.

the sum of the squares of two consecutive negative integers is 61. find the smaller of the two intergers.

the number of team shirts that eric purchased was 10 more than twice the value of each in dollars. the total cost of the order was $2100. how many shirts were bought and what was their price/??

  1. In the first one, call the base b
    then the altitude is (b/2) - 5
    you know the area of a triangle so write it out and call it equal to 300

    In the second one call the first one n and call the second one (n+1)
    then write n^2 + (n+1)^2 = 61
    and proceed from there

    I think once you have done the first two you will see how to do the third.
