Is it in the interest of high-income countries to promote the development of poor countries? Why or why not?

  1. Yes. If low-income countries are developed, they have the money to buy our exports.

  2. But why is it worth investing in a place, if you don't know if they will be valuable to you in the future?

  3. All investments are gambles. The odds are that the investments will pay off.

    Add that to what's right from a humanitarian point of view, then it's usually a win-win situation.
