  1. Parentheses are required around numerators and denominators in fractional expressions.

    Check if the problem is (as you typed it):
    5/x - 6x=4
    Multiply by x and simplify (x≠0)
    5-6x²=4x
    6x²+4x-5=0

    or

    5/(x-6) = 4
    5 = 4(x-6) where x≠6
    4x-24=5
    4x=5+24=29
    Divide by 4 on each side:
    x=7.25
