Re-write the following sentences replacing the underlined direct object with a direct
object pronoun. Remember, the direct object pronoun needs to be placed directly in
front of the conjugated verb. The following is an example:
Sara come una hamburguesa. (Sara eats a hamburger.)

Sara la come. (Sara eats it.)

16. Yo veo las sillas.
17. Maria escucha (listens to) la música.
18. Sara llama a Pedro. (Sara calls Pedro.) ella la llama

19. Nosotros levantamos los libros. (We pick up the books.)

20. Ellos hablan el español.

i have tried these multiple times and cannot seem to get them right.. please help me.

16. los veo ellos
17.Maria lo escucha
18. ella lo llama le
19.Recogemos libros hasta
20. there is nothing to do
this is my redo i done on them..

16. "Las sillas" is feminine and plural; you have the masculine plural direct object pronoun here.

17. "La musica" is feminine and singular; you have the masculine singular form here.

18. correct (though you do not need "le" here)

19. You do not need to change the verb here or add "hasta"; you simply need to take out "los libros" from the sentence and add a third person plural masculine direct object pronoun before the verb.

20. Take out "el espanol" from the sentence and replace it with a direct object pronoun which needs to be placed before the conjugated verb.
this is what she told me...

  1. Well, nothing is underlined, so I HOPE you have understood this one. WHERE are YOUR answers? We are here to HELP you but not to DO your work for you. Please see your 2 later posts (or maybe there were 3) because I saw them first and spent a great del of time telling you everything you should know BEFORE you tackle these exercises.

    In the LAST # 16 through 20, you have what is WRONG with each of the sentences you did. Follow those explanations, try the sentences again and let me know for my proofreading.

  4. It sounds like you're having difficulty understanding masculine vs. feminine in Spanish OR singular and plural (or both). (Since whoever helped you before pointed out what to use).

    Singular = one.
    Plural = more than one.

    These concepts are also in English. I can have a pen (singular) or 5 pens (plural). With English, we usually add "s" to mean plural with a noun. That's true in Spanish as well.

    The hard part seems to be feminine and masculine nouns. We don't have this concept as much in English. QUITE OFTEN (not always) a feminine noun in Spanish ends in an "a." Cortina, vaca, and other nouns that end in "a" are usually feminine. One way to tell, if you have the article in front of it, is which article it is. "La vaca," for example, uses the article "la." Masculine single nouns will use "el." (El jefe).

    Now, does your book have a list of Spanish Object pronouns? If so, start there.

    Look at which ones are masculine, which ones are feminine, which ones are singular and which ones are plural. You might want to make a chart like this in your notes:

    masculine feminine sing plural
    lo x x
    los x x
    la x x
    las x x

    That way, when you know you need to look for the masculine singular noun, you look at the two checked as masculine and find which one is checked singular. (It's "lo.")

    Does that help with at least some of them?
