2x^2-2x-1=0

How do I use the quadratic formula to solve this because I am totally new at this and need help? Please show me the steps for this equation,so I will be able to do it own my own. Thank you.

1. Make sure the equation is in the form:

ax^2 + bx + c = 0, which your problem is.
2. Use the quadratic formula:
x1 = (-b + (b^2 - 4ac)^(1/2))/(2a)
x2 = (-b - (b^2 - 4ac)^(1/2))/(2a)

You can check your answers by substituting into the original equation.
