For elementary or middle school students around the United States, do they learn about the events of 9/11 in the later grades?

That depends entirely upon the school system and its curriculum. But I think that most children over 8 or so know something about 9/11,

So some children who were born after 9/11 learned about it?

I think they'll feel disturbed after hearing stories that stem from these attacks.

Anyways, I like the annual "Tribute in Light" tradition in New York City every September 11th. Makes me sad and a little teary. Do you agree, Ms. Sue?

Yes, it was a tragic time. And it still has profound effects.

However, many dates in our history are memorable. Can you identify these dates?

July 4, 1776
April 14, 1865
May 7, 1915
November 11, 1918
December 7, 1941
June 6, 1944
November 22, 1963

Here are the answers in order of date from 1 to 7.

1) Independence Day
2) The assassination of Abraham Lincoln
3) ???
4) I forgot
5) Attack on Pearl Harbor
6) D-Day
7) Assassination of JFK

3) Sinking of the Lusitania -- a major cause of the U.S. entering WWI

4) Armistice Day -- when the treaty ending WWI was signed.

Right on all of the others! :-)

in my past school years, i learned about it in 6th grade. that's when it hit me hard. it all depends upon your state laws and regulations for student requirements.
