Have any of you read or watch the movie of West Side Story? If so, please help me with the question below, Thanks in advance.

What characteristic best described Tony?
A. intellectual
B. idealist
C. stupid
D. angry
E. None of the above

I would say it's either B or C. Since Tony has a strong belief in marrying Maria as his wife and trying to achieve it, therefore I think he is sorta idealist. However, I think he is immature, stupid, and innocent from seeing his actions, attitudes, and behaviors throughout the story. So which one should I pick? What do you guys think?
Thanks for helping. I totally appreciate that.

I wouldn't say stupid, and he's certainly not angry or intellectual! I'd go with idealist, since he loved Maria, even though she was connected to the rival gang.

Remember that this is a "spin off" from Romeo and Juliet. You might want to double-check on each of those characters, too.

To determine the characteristic that best describes Tony, it is important to analyze his actions, attitudes, and behaviors throughout the story. While personal interpretation may vary, I can provide guidance on how to approach this question.

To begin, recall Tony's beliefs, motivations, and actions. Consider his role in the conflict between the Jets and the Sharks, as well as his relationship with Maria. Think about how he reacts to challenges and how he interacts with other characters in the story.

Next, let's examine the options provided:

A. Intellectual: An intellectual character is typically highly intelligent and prioritizes knowledge and analysis. Consider if Tony's actions and speeches demonstrate a strong intellectual aptitude.

B. Idealist: An idealist character tends to hold high moral or ethical principles and believes in the possibility of a better future. Evaluate if Tony's devotion to marrying Maria aligns with this principle.

C. Stupid: Stupidity refers to a lack of intelligence or reasoning ability. Reflect on whether Tony's actions and decision-making indicate a lack of intelligence.

D. Angry: An angry character frequently displays anger or aggression. Consider if Tony's behavior throughout the story demonstrates consistent anger.

E. None of the above: If none of the provided options align with your understanding of Tony's characteristic, this might be the most appropriate choice.

Considering the information you provided, Tony's strong belief in marrying Maria could support the characterization of him as an idealist. However, you also mention perceiving him as immature, stupid, and innocent, which would lean towards the choice of C, "stupid."

Ultimately, the interpretation of a character's characteristics is subjective. Based on your analysis, it seems that you are torn between B and C. I suggest reviewing some key scenes or dialogues from the story to further solidify your understanding of Tony's character. This will help you make a more informed decision and choose the option that best reflects your interpretation.
