I have an english project about mainstream America, like whats accepted, popular, or a trend in America. So I listed things like war, drugs, peer pressure, education, going green, protests etc etc. Now I have to list things that are considered to be outside of mainstream America so I listed poverty, taboo, individuality, but I don't know what else to put, any ideas?

Certainly! When trying to identify aspects that are considered outside of mainstream America, it's important to keep in mind that society's views and attitudes can vary over time and across different regions. However, some ideas to consider for your project include:

1. Counterculture movements: These are cultural movements or groups that reject or oppose dominant societal norms. Examples include the hippie movement in the 1960s and 1970s, advocating for peace, love, and equality, or the punk movement that emerged in the 1970s, characterized by its rebellious attitude and alternative fashion/music.

2. Alternative lifestyles: This may include individuals or communities that choose different paths from the social norms. For instance, people living in intentional communities, practicing polyamory, or adopting alternative parenting approaches (such as unschooling).

3. Subcultures: These are smaller cultural communities within society that have their own distinct values, norms, and lifestyles. Examples include goths, bikers, body modification enthusiasts, or certain fandom communities.

4. Non-traditional spiritual practices: This category might encompass religious or spiritual beliefs and practices that are relatively less common within mainstream America. This could include paganism, Wicca, certain New Age movements, or even more esoteric philosophies and beliefs.

5. Alternative artistic expressions: Various forms of art, such as graffiti, street art, outsider art, or experimental and avant-garde movements, might be considered outside of mainstream appreciation.

Remember, these are just ideas to get you started. It's important to research and find specific examples within these categories that resonate with your project's focus on what is considered outside of mainstream America.
