The school canteen has 30 sandwiches to be sold. The sandwiches are 9 hotdog, 5 tuna, ham, 5 cheese and egg, and 3 bacon. A sandwich is selected at random and sold. Given 8. that the first sandwich selected and sold is hotdog, what is the probability that the next sandwich selected and sold is also hotdog?

the numbers of sandwiches do not add up to 30, but that doesn't reall matter. If there are 30 sandwiches and 9 are dogs, then

P(dog,dog) = 9/30 * 8/29

Not sure what "Given 8." means ...

It's your job to say it so clearly you cannot be misunderstood.
