Two blocks of mass m1 = 0.5 kg and m2 = 1.7 kg are connected by a massless string, as shown in the Figure. They are released from rest. The coefficent of kinetic friction between the upper block and the surface is 0.11. Calculate the speed of the blocks after they have moved a distance 25 cm. Assume that the pulley is massless and frictionless

    T - 0.11 m1 g = m1 a
    block below falling toward earth I assume
    m2 g - T = m2 a
    add the two equations
    m2 g -0.11 m1 g = ( m1+m2) a
    solve for a
    then
    0.25 meters = (1/2) a t^2
    solve for t
    then
    v = a t
