Wich one of the statements is true?

1. A lewis dot diagram shows only the valence electrons.
2. Anions tend to form metallic atoms.
3. Anions and cations have unequal numbers of protons and electrons.

For my money both 1 and 3 are true. Lewis dot diagrams show the element symbol with the outside electrons. I KNOW 3 is true. 1 is true is true also UNLESS there is something tricky about the element symbol.
