A spiral galaxy can be described as what type of shape?(1 point)

oval

triangular

no distinct shape

pinwheel

What lies at the center of the Milky Way galaxy?(1 point)

the sun

a black hole

Earth

North Star

How are asteroids and comets similar?(1 point)

Both are frozen.

Both orbit the sun.

Both are composed of rock.

Both are composed of gases.

At certain times of the year, four planets can be seen from Earth, including Mars and(1 point)

Neptune.

Juno.

Saturn.

Uranus.

What caused people to accept the geocentric model of the universe?(1 point)

Objects seem to move across the sky, and Earth did not feel like it was moving.

Telescopes allowed for a much detailed view of the circular orbits of the planets.

Noticing the gravity will eventually pull all the planets and the universe back together.

Measurements and mathematical models demonstrated that the planets orbit around the sun.

Which ideas describe the big crunch?(1 point)

The universe is not only composed of the objects that we can see.

The universe goes through infinite cycles of expansion and contraction.

The big bang actually never occurred, and the universe must have a different origin.

After the universe reaches its expansion limit, gravity will pull it all back together.

Use the excerpt from an online article to answer the question.

“While the big bang theory is the most popular modern theory of how the universe formed, it is incomplete.”

Which question does the big bang theory leave unanswered?

(1 point)

What is the future of the universe?

How did galaxies and stars form?

What is the temperature of deep space?

When did the universe form?

Which theory of how the universe formed is best supported by evidence of radio waves detected in space?(1 point)

heliocentric model

steady state theory

big crunch theory

big bang theory

What triggered the cyclic model of the origin of the universe?(1 point)

Some scientists argue that the planets do not orbit in circles around the sun.

Some scientists began to use telescopes and mathematics to study the universe.

Some scientists found that the amount of radiation in space is not consistent with an explosion.

Some scientists think that the universe will not keep expanding forever.

In three to five sentences, evaluate the scientific evidence that supports the big bang theory and the steady state theory.(4 points)

Use the scenario to answer the question.

An astronomer discovers a new galaxy using a telescope. The astronomer wants to investigate how the galaxy is moving relative to the Milky Way galaxy.

In one or two sentences, make a hypothesis about the movement of the galaxy and explain at least one way to test the hypothesis.

10.There is a red shift, which means that the star is moving toward the sun
11.Diamonds is the name Big bang Theory suggests the origin of the universe started with an explosion and expansion of a very hot, dense, compact fireball. It is a theory that stated that the universe originated from a single point in space or singularity. Despite the name, the universe was not born from an explosion. Rather, it was born from the continuous expansion of the single hot dense state, eventually cooling down which allowed more forms of matter to form
12.Steady state Theory about the origin of the universe that suggests the universe has and will continue to be at a steady, continuous state. The steady state theory suggests that the universe expands continually but maintains a constant average density even when matter is being created continuously. It suggests also that as new stars and galaxies are formed, they continue to form at the same rate older stars and galaxies become unobservable.

  34. Here are the answers... You keep saying stuff about matter being created, but one of the first things you learn in Science is that matter cannot be created nor destroyed. Matter is NOT being created, but rather, expanding and combining pre-existing chemicals to "create" new things. Thus, matter is never being created. It is being experimented with, yes. But not created. Sorry if I seem rude, I just wanted to point it out.
