Temperature (degrees F) 49 55 52 46 47 42 38
Julia measured the high temperature in her town for one week. Using the chart above, find the mean absolute deviation for the high temperatures. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.
Be sure to show your work for finding:
the mean of the set of data
the distance of each number from the mean
the mean absolute deviation
um I'm in Conexus?
The mean:
So i did the obvious steps, I added up all the numbers, and subtracted it by the
amount of numbers.
Answer: 47
The distance:
Sunday: It's higher by 2 49-47=2
Monday: It is higher by 8 55-47=8
Tuesday: It is higher by 5 52-47=5
Wednesday: It is lower by 1 47-46=1
Thursday: It is the same amount
Friday: It is lower by 5 47-42=5
Saturday: It is lower by 9 47-38=9
You do the mean absolute deviation on your own, (I'll post the mean absolute deviation answer in 3 days though.)
help *ribbit* i need to know the mean absolute deviation *ribbit*
the mean is 47
for each value x, the distance to the mean is |x-47|
so add up all of those and take the mean of that.
