1.) what is the total population of asia in 1980 and 2009.
2.) What is the total population of phillipines in 1980 and 2009.

1. You won't find 2009 information yet -- the year has barely begun. You probably won't find accurate information for 2008 yet either. Aim for 2007. Then make a list of the years -- 1980, 1981, 1982, etc.
2. Make a list of all the countries in Asia and the years you need for each; then look up each one separately and when you have all the data, add them up.
3. Use http://www.google.com and search words like these:
population 1980 phillippines
population 1981 phillippines
population 1982 phillippines
etc.
population 1980 USSR
population 1980 China
etc.
